melaleucaOver the years the number of work at home businesses online have sky rocketed, and one of the main ones currently making the rounds is Melaleuca. A company that created and distributed organic weight loss products and all natural cleaning supplies, they offer a discounted wholesale price to their subscribers. They also provide a system that allows people to create their own business selling their products through an affiliate network.

The ‘top sellers’ tend to be their meal replacement options, such as shakes and cookies that are packed with vitamins and other essential nutrients for a healthy diet. They also claim to contain a number of antioxidants, which help the metabolism, as well as provide a healthy cleansing system within the body, improving cell health. This is added to the benefits of an all natural diet pill, which allows the consumer a chemical-free option that can be hard to find on the market these days.

However, the pros seem to end there. Other then those listed above, there are no apparent benefit to using these products for active weight loss, and in fact they do not seem to have any other function other then to provide the same vitamins that can be found in a daily capsule. There is no reported effect on the metabolism, burning calories, or reducing appetite. There are also no thermogenic properties, which have been proven to speed up the fat burning process, and can usually be found in natural dietary supplements.

In addition, you are forced to sign up for their monthly service, which can be very expensive. They are also notorious for ripping their customers off, and according to many consumer watchdogs their will refuse to cancel subscriptions, continuing to take money from bank accounts for months on end, and refusing to refund the money afterwards. This makes it more likely to be a pyramid scheme, and so going into business with Melaleuca would be unwise, at best.

As for using the products, there is no reason to believe their meal replacement products would hurt weight loss, and in fact the method of using low calories options to replace large meals is a sound one. But there is also nothing to suggest their’s is any more effective then the less expensive choices on the market, such as SlimFast, and there is otherwise no other benefit to using Melaleuca.

In conclusion, it is true that Melaleuca offers organic, nutritious meal replacement options, as well as a line of all natural cleaning supplies that may or may not work as effectively as they claim. It is also true that a person could potentially make a profit selling their line, or lose weight using their products. However, there is no proof that either claim is true, and the evidence to the contrary is provocative. In the end it may or may not be worth the risk, but in any case, buyer beware.
