Cracking The Overeating Code

Dr. David Kessler ran the FDA for eight years, under the control of two presidential administrations. He worked tirelessly to change the standards for American food labeling, and he has lobbied for health both in, and out, of government. But his latest research has been directly related to overeating, and, as he says ‘cracking the code’.
In an interview with author and weight loss expert Janice Taylor, Kessler talks about his own struggle with losing weight, as well as his fight against overeating. The topic became so important to him that it sparked an intensive research study dedicated to finding out what it was that drove some people to overeat.
“While watching Oprah, I heard a woman speak about her inability to control her eating, and the pain and frustration that accompanied her lack of control. I wondered, ‘What is going on? What’s driving this?’ he explained to Taylor in the interview
“And I related to her story. There’s almost nothing in my life that I do on impulse. But foods and the cues that surround them have the power to make me act against my own will. I wanted to understand how this works.”
