Everyone loves the summer, and with plans being booked for resorts, beach vacations, and long days by the pool, is your body summer ready?

If not, don't despair! Winter still isn't quite over, and you have plenty of time to get ready for that tiny bikini, or those close fitting swim trunks. All it takes is a little dedication, a few tricks, and a diet, and you will be flaunting that flat tummy in no time.

1. Drink a ton of water. It may sound simplistic, but the body desperately needs at least 8 glasses (or 64 ounces) of water a day, and starving yourself of hydration will cause you to retain fluid, and swell up like a bloated party balloon.

2. Cut down on alcohol. Not only is it full of empty calories, but it will slow your metabolism, and make it harder for you to burn fat. It can also slow you down during the day, and make you feel groggy. Best leave the liquor for another day, or the occasional glass of wine with dinner. Especially stay away from beer, and cocktails.

3. Cut out your fats. This should be obvious, but many still break the cardinal rule of weight loss, and partake of too many sweets. Stay away from desserts, which contain saturated fats, and sugars, both two big no-no's for weight watchers.

4. Enjoy dairy. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese...these are all great snacks for anyone on the summer bikini diet. While you will want to stick with the low fat options, such as skim milk, 1%, and fat free, dairy is every dieters best friend.

5. Eat your vegetables. It turns out mom was right. Eating plenty of veggies, including a lot of greens, with every meal will boost your summer weight loss in a big way. It will also give you plenty of energy to stay active, and keep you from binging.

6. Get plenty of Omega 3. From fish to oil tablets, it's easy to get your dose of Omega 3, an important oil that will keep the body healthy, and boost the immune system, as well as the metabolism. Head to your local health food store, and pick up a bottle of tablets.

7. Stick with small portions. Eat a number of small meals, five or six a day, rather then any large meals. Not only will it keep you from overeating, but it can improve your digestive system, and help you to lose more fat.

8. Get your fiber. This is easier than ever to do. Switch your white breads and pastas with whole grain, get one of the many great tasting cereals and yogurts with fiber, and make sure you get your full day's requirements.

9. Replace sugar with spice. Ginger, cinnamon, clove...those of us with sugar cravings can use these sweet, spicy alternatives to help control those sugar cravings.

10. Never eat before bed. Try to stay away from food at least two hours before bed. Your body can't get the rest it needs when it is trying to digest food, and it will also effect your metabolism.
